Lightbulb switching characters

I’m kinda new to posting so please bare with me . I have mentioned this to a couple of players and they seem to agree and I am hoping others will as well but would love to see it put into action… so I was thinking, sometimes I find myself switching characters back and forth for various reasons and I hate having to logout and login over and over and typing my password every time. So we thought it would be nice if they could make an option to switch characters without logging all the way out. Such as clicking logout and maybe have the option “logout or change character” or character selection screen. It seems it would be nice if you are in Pre or Cantha (playing a character that has not left the current area) and have a guild member or friend that needs your help in Tyria (post) if you could just zap back to the character selection screen and switch to a character that is able to travel where needed and help them or if you almost have enough money for that last piece of armor and you know this other character has it in inventory you could just zap to selection screen and switch put the money in storage and zap back to the original character and buy your armor. Instead of logging out having to enter password again and switch then go about what you are doing, It just seems a hassle to me when I have to logout and back in just because I want or need something from another character or need to help a friend for a few that is in a different area just to do it all over again shortly afterwards.
Any way I hope I am making since with this and I’m not just sounding completely lazy about it but I would like to see this implemented into the game.
Thank you for your time, Zipity

C:\Program Files\GW\Gw.exe -email "email" -password "password"

With those switches, GW will logon automaticly upon opening, and when you logout from ingame, you'll end at the character select screen. Just do not use this if people who you don't trust have access to the computer you play GW on.

This is a good suggestion, but what if you have two accounts ? If I do this, what is an easy way to log in to the second account on occasion ?

I can understand the concern for those with a 2nd account we have two people in our household each with there own and i played around with it alittle... with two icons on the desk top, one for account a and one for account b, both icons set to the most frequently used soo if u have icon a and icon b set up to go to there accompaning account then when u switch, it tries to logon to the address u just logged off of and says that password is incorrect causing u to enter the address and password of the current account afterward working properly untill time to switch again, thankfully we also have more than one computer so we usually don't use the same one althou on occasion we have been known to switch

I'd like to thank Zipity for bringing this issue up and katari for finding a workaround. This is something I've been looking for for quite a bit.

While does the trick, I think the developers ought to flesh it out more and make it a system option.

At the login screen, there could be an 'accounts' that one would click that would pop-up a setup window for adding multiple accounts. The feature would allow the user to
  • Enter their email associated with the account.
  • Enter the password into a password-protected textbox with an option to save it for fast login.(not required)
  • Associate a user-defined name for the account, like "my first prophecies account."

When the user had entered multiple accounts into the client, a drop-down box would appear in the place where you would normally type in the email address. Selecting the account would prefill the password field if the user opted to fill it in.

User then logs in as normal.

If the user logs out of a character and their account has the password already saved in the client, it would return the user directly to the character select screen without the "bump" through the re-authentication screen.

Hey I had no idea about that lol... nice little tip. I'm going to try that later since I trust everyone in my house.

If you have two accounts, well you just need to make two shortcuts. But it would be easier if it was like MSN Messenger and it had a dropdown menu, and also if F12 remained "Log Out", but maybe a new Shift + F12 for "Log out to Character select screen" as well.
